There's a fungus among us!

Okay, so about a week or so ago Jonas started itching his feet...nothing too bad at first...then it became unbearable for him. He started to wake up every night because of the terrible itch! I took him to the Dr. after a few of the sleepless nights...and was told that it may be a virus which was coming through his hands and feet...but there was no fever...so I wasn't so sure this was the case. She was all over the place because then she thought it looked like an allergic reaction to something...either way I was told to give him benadryl and put a topical anti-itch cream on. (both I was already doing...with no signs of relief for him)  I left there basically with no more info than when I had arrived. So, being the persistent mother and worrier that I am...of course I made an appointment with a dermatologist at the Texas Children's Hospital! So, I'm thinking...these Dr.'s specialize in skin, and people from all over the world come here to see the best children's doctors...I thought...surly they will look at his feet and know instantly what it is and how to fix it. So, we get there and the hospital is totally set up for kids...everywhere you look there are things for children to look at and play with. It almost felt like a children's museum...until you look around and see all the sick kids in wheel chairs and laying on miniature gurneys. I definitely was not prepared to see this. It made me realize real quick how fortunate we are to have what we think of as a perfect child. We checked in and they handed us a buzzer that vibrates and lights up when they're ready for you...then we headed down to the cafeteria for lunch...and let me tell you...hospital food has come a long way...at least in the medical center...we had several food stations to choose from...including chick-fil-a and subway. We were called back and two Dr.s came in to look at his feet and hands...bottom line...they don't know what it is!! What a disappointment!! They gave him a scabies prescription...which I am not giving him...because clearing it is not scabies! It's such a strong medication and he has none of the symptoms of it actually being scabies...so NO....not gonna happen! My mom and I looked it up online and we are thinking athlete's feet (all three Dr.'s said no...it's not athlete's feet)...not really sure...so I'm treating it with all natural home remedies that are said to knock out any type of fungus. It  does look a little better...and I know it's not contagious...so till it changes in any way...I'm just gonna sit tight and make him as comfortable as possible.

This may be hard to see, but trust me if your kid woke up at night frantically scratching...you'd be concerned.

I thought we were at an airport or something...

waiting for the Dr. looking at all the cars and buses
Testing for scabies... negative test results!
(and they still gave him the meds)
Big cow by the elevators
Ready for some cold milk and a movie for the ride home.

Dewberry Farm

Hey, everyone! Today we took Jonas and his friend to Dewberry Farm! Ryans' coworker generously gave him a couple of tickets and we had no other plans...so off we went! We weren't too sure how it would go taking two kids, but it was a success! We didn't lose either one, they didn't fight, and when we returned to the car they fell asleep! There were so many fun activities for all the kids to do...from a hay ride to pig races! First, we stopped to snack...Cheese burgers, sausage on a stick, pickles, and kettle corn. Then we fed some goats, and got in line to ride the ponies. Both boys loved the ponies! I thought they would be a little nervous, but to my surprise they had no reservations. Next, we let them loose in the play area...the pvc pipe slide we a huge favorite! Finally, we took them on a tractor ride. There were so many other things for them to do...but they were at the limit! The boys loved every minute of the farm and they both left with little tractors.

Only for you...

I recently came across this song and fell in love with it! I favor acoustic versions of songs or minimal instrumentation...I think it allows you to really hear the voice, adds warmth, and a fuzzy feeling...so of course I included a link to an acoustic version sung by a girl. With our anniversary coming up...I think this is a fitting song to dedicate to my buffalo head...Ryan! I Love you!

English translation:
You are all that I asked for
What my empty soul
Wanted to feel

You are all I've waited for

What I've searched for in dreams

I found that in you

You have come to spark

Every part of my soul

Every part of my being

I no longer have a heart

Nor eyes

For anyone, but you.

You are the love of my life

Destiny knew

And it brought you to me

And every time I look at the past

I understand that by your side

I always belonged

You have come to spark

Every part of my soul

Every part of my being

I no longer have a heart

Nor eyes

For anyone, but you.

Only for you

Only for you

Only for you

This is for real

I can feel it

I know that my place to be

Is next to you

You are all that I asked for

What my empty soul

Wanted to feel...

Original spanish:

Eres todo lo que pedía

Lo que mi alma vacía

Quería sentir

Eres lo que tanto esperaba

Lo que en sueños buscaba

Y que en ti descubrí

Tú has llegado a encender

Cada parte de mi alma

Cada espacio de mi ser

Ya no tengo corazón

Ni ojos para nadie

Solo para ti

Eres el amor de mi vida

El destino lo sabia

Y hoy te puso ante mí

Y cada vez que miro al pasado

Es que entiendo que a tu lado

Siempre pertenecí

Tú has llegado a encender

Cada parte de mi alma

Cada espacio de mi ser

Ya no tengo corazón

Ni ojos para nadie

Solo para ti

Solo para ti

Solo para ti

Solo para ti

Esto es en verdad

Lo puedo sentir

Se que mi lugar

Es junto a ti?

Eres todo lo que pedía

Lo que no conocía

Y que en ti descubrí.

Dino Jo Jo

Lately Jonas has been obsessed with Dinosaurs! He started collecting them since he was about a year old or even earlier. Recently he bumped up his interest in them quite a bit. He watches Dinosaur Train and now Dino Dan! He can watch these two shows for hours. Ryan and I are amazed at how clearly he can say Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Brachiosaurus! I guess since he's so interested in them he puts forth an extra effort to learn all there is to know about them. I think out of all the kids shows on TV these two are pretty educational so I'm okay with him watching them over sponge bob!! (which I can not stand) Last night one of Jonas' friends gave him a ton of dinosaurs that she once collected. He was more than thrilled and almost immediately started making a "zoo" of the new ones as well as the ones he already had. He calls grouping together any kinds of animals a "zoo". I know it may seem hard to believe for a two year old, but he carefully lines up his toys to all face the same direction...sometimes big to small or big in the middle and to each side smaller to smallest. (that has to mean something) My living room has turned into a "zoo"!! If his interest continues in dinosaurs....who knows how many he will end up with and where we will store them! Here are a few pictures of his dinosaurs he lined up on the fire place...(I know these are not all of them either)

Playing with his dinosaurs while the recorded Dino Dan is on!
